Quarterly Report October - December 2017

The current report, as well as the previous ones, examine if the Greek economy complies with the fiscal targets set in the State Budget and the Medium Term Financial Strategy, which have been voted by the Greek Parliament. It focuses on the fourth quarter of 2017. The report was drafted on the basis of the current policy framework as set out in the Government’s agreement with the European Central Bank (ECB), the European Commission (EC), the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).It also takes into account the whole ongoing debate at the European level on the revision of the Economic governance and in particular of the Eurozone. The Coordinator and the Members of the Scientific Committee acknowledge that in the economic agenda different economic philosophies exit and that what is required, based on economic criteria, is not necessarily feasible politically. Also, what is politically desirable, is not always economically effective.
